As well as donating our Evening DJ Service as a charity Auction Prize; one of our show stopping Dreamwave DJ’s delivered a party to remember along with the Band of the Army Air Corps during the evening’s escapades.
Preparation for Armistice Ball 2018
Preparations began days before with all the suppliers working together to make it a night to remember with stunning aesthetics! Our Dreamwave lighting technicians produced a jaw-dropping geometric hanging pendant lamp arrangement creating a key focal point during the event.
Dreamwave Events also provided full sound production for the event along with poignant gobo projections and a masterful illumination of the First World War bi-plane from Stow Maries Airfield creating a key central feature using our high quality up-lighting.
The Evening Event of Armistice Ball 2018
We joined director, Paul Milsom and all the guests for a 2 minute silence during dinner. Whilst eating, guests were entertained by the acapella group The Testostertones and the Downton Abbey Dancers, before a charity auction.
The leading donation was the replica of the Royal Enfield Pegasus 500 motorbike the Flying Flea that made up £10,000 of the total of contributions
A fantastic evening was had by all and we look forward to the next event at Milsoms Kesgrave Hall.

Wow, what an exciting year 2016 has been! As a result there has been little time for rest at Dreamwave Events HQ. We have had plenty of weddings, corporate events and private parties where we were providing our DJ and Lighting services in Essex and Suffolk.
Sit back, grab a coffee and biscuit to read this post. It’s long as its represents our whole years activities in a nutshell!
First of all the year 2016 saw a huge brand overhaul injecting a refreshing new look to Dreamwave. Most noteworthy was the launch of our current website. We feel this now reflects a befitting image of the company and its character by expressing the array of innovative services we can offer.
With much demand for our services, we felt it was time to expand our team. Our answer to finding the perfect addition to our friendly bunch of misfits was George! He has settled in well and has DJ’d some awesome weddings at Hengrave Halland Private Marquees. He has received some fabulous reviews on our Facebook. For a December 2016 wedding, Matko Marlais wrote this: “Thank you for providing such a fantastic DJ and event lighting service for our wedding at Tuddenham Mill! You went above and beyond in obtaining some esoteric foreign music choices for us, and your professionalism and entertainment on the day was brilliant!”
Moving further into 2016 we discovered new friends. We are honoured to be the recommended suppliers of three new magnificent venues – Hutton Hallin Essex, All Saints Hotel in Suffolk and Captains Wood Barnin Essex. We also teamed up with our good friend Sister Sax. Kay is an awesome saxophonist who can be booked to jam alongside our DJ’s for a real unique Club Ibiza feel during the evening. Keep an eye out for our dedicated pages on our website in the new year.
Events of 2016
2016 has been an exciting year for Dreamwave Events. We have provided both our DJ and Lighting Services to an array of parties and events. These have flourished under our illumination expertise! Hence a big personal thank you to all our clients who we provided our DJ and Lighting Hire to this year!
Here are some of my choice favourites:
Houchins Farm, August 2016
Houchins Farm experienced a total Dreamwave re-vamp to create a true fairy tale wedding illusion. The set of this masterpiece boasted floating kilner jars suspended from the ceiling of the barn over the wedding breakfast area containing a mixture of sparkly fairy lights and LED candles. Thus illuminating the room perfectly creating the ideal ambience for the whimsical setting. An outdoor festoon pathway was installed establishing an area of ideal incandescence for the evening buffet of Paella and Ice Cream. These services accompanied by our fairy lighting and Complete Evening DJ and Lighting Hire Servicehelped form an indisputably magical day for the bride, groom and all their guests.
Aspalls Ball, May 2016
For this distinguished occasion that took place at the beautiful Kenton Hall, we were commissioned to provide our full production hire services. This included staging; tech rider for the headlining band, Polar Collective; A complete sound and PA solution with added AV screens and switching for the charity auctions; plus a custom designed backdrop and set created by our very own Spike Grimsey, that was made from reclaimed wooden pallets and our signature hanginglamp pendants. The entire evening was a success and vital funds were raised for the Dylan Foundation. Guests partied into the small hours with the band and one of our Dreamwave DJs. Our services were well received and we look forward to working with Aspalls again in the future.
GeeWizz Secret Garden Charity Ball – The Hangar, Kesgrave Hall, October 2016
My year review wouldn’t be complete without telling you about our involvement with theGeeWizz Secret Garden Charity Ball, hosted by charity founder Gina Long MBE. She has had more than 35 years experience of charity fundraising.
The ball was attended by more than 250 people and supported by former England cricketer Graeme Swann, operatic star Laura Wright and television presenter Chris Hollins who was the MC for the evening. Entertainment included swing singer Mickey Fordola during dinner, eight-piece band Soul Beat finishing on our very own Dreamwave DJ Dave, DJing until the early hours keeping the dance floor rocking.
This magnificent charity ball raised over an incredible £94,638 for GeeWizz! All money raised will help children, young adults and their families with disabilities or those living with life-threatening diseases such as those who are affected by cancer, along with supporting essential cancer research.
Dreamwave are extremely proud to have been involved in such a remarkable event. We look forward to working with Gina and her team again in the future.
Milsoms Halloween Ball, Kesgrave Hall, October 2016
This saw us present a full Halloween DJ and Lighting production to set the spine-chilling mood in the stunning Hangar. A lot of preparation and planning had gone into this event. With us working closely with the events team and Geraldine Milsom herself to create a spectacular look and style.
Our crew had three areas to transform: the first was the outside area as guests arrived. We illuminated the building and surrounding tress with an orange tone. We then added mini strobes set up in the grounds to act as lightning. A hidden sound system played atmospheric haunting sounds to create an eerie entrance. Secondly, in the entrance drinks reception marquee, we introduced a warm orange glow that was slightly subdued. This was then enhanced by around 100 of our signature ‘floating’ candles, cobwebs and black chandeliers. Lastly, the dining and party area of The Hangar. This saw the room transformto a deep purple with vibrant styling.
Our lighting team took control of the effects and created custom programmes to be used throughout the evening. Supernatural projections played though out dinner to add to the theme. Once dinner service was complete our DJ’s ghoulish musical choices garnished with ghostly and glaring elevations witnessed Dreamwave delivering a truly spooktacular evening’s entertainment!
The evening was extremely well received and we are already in the planning stage for next year’s version. This will bigger and better (and maybe a little more scary!)
We have been privileged to work with and alongside quite a few famous faces in the past. 2016 has been no exception. Throughout the year we provided DJ specification rider equipment(mainly Pioneer CDJ2000 Nexus, DJM 900 Nexus mixers and Technics 1210’s. All standard items that we hold in our hire stock).
The legendary DJ Spoony was among such DJs, along with MC Creed and the awesome Shortee Blitz. Plus, our very own Dreamwave DJs have had the pleasure of Djing alongside the likes of DJ Luck and MC neat this year.

All the best during the festive period. See you next year!
I had no idea until I started working at Dreamwave Events. I found a Gobo Projection is a stencil placed in front of a light that controls the shape emitted. The shape can be pretty much anything!
This remarkable idea is simple, yet unforgettable and positively effective. A Gobo projection will make an impressive and immediate impact on your guests at any wedding, party or corporate event.
What choices of Gobo can Dreamwave Events Provide?
Generic Gobo Projection Templates in stock
At Dreamwave we have Gobo Projection Templates in stock of basic images to enhance a theme. Templates include snowflakes (perfect for your Christmas wedding or party) or stars along with my personal favourite, woodland. We used the woodland template a short time ago in “A Midsummer Nights Dream” themed wedding.
For your wedding party we also have a “Mr and Mrs” template to project to introduce yourselves as the newlyweds to begin your lives together as husband and wife. Alternatively how about:
Customised Gobo Projection Designs
Our design team can also produce a customised and meaningful Gobo projection that can truly personalise your party or event.
You could illuminate your initials and date onto the wall for your wedding’s evening party. You then get to keep the template as wedding memorabilia.
Or alternatively perhaps a business logo for a corporate event to give your conference or party further impact!
So the options of Gobo design are limitless and can be either simple and impressionable or significantly intricate. Each option results in an impressive memorable projection that is visually entertaining and revives the most uninteresting surface.
The price is dependent on the design intricacy and the materials need to produce the overall arrangement. Metal Gobos cost less and are generally used for basic designs. Glass is more expensive as it is required to support the more complicated gobo composition. This material allows the image to be projected clearly.
To find out more about our Gobo Projections, please contact Dreamwave Events. We will be happy to answer any questions you have. I hope you found my blog post useful!
