Real Wedding, Le Talbooth, Essex – Rebecca and Samuel

Rebecca and Sam set their date for their wedding day at Le Talbooth in Essex.  For me, the best way to describe their day in a nutshell is unsurpassed thoughtfulness.   Attention to detail was given to every aspect of their wedding day.  There were so many individual touches that really made their wedding intimate and unique.

The Wedding Planning

After Sam’s proposal in Thailand in November 2015, they got cracking onto the wedding planning.

The Venue – Le Talbooth

With the natural beauty of the River Stour as it’s canvas, Le Talbooth is one of the foremost wedding venues in Colchester.  Then they had the added bonus of Milsom Weddings acting as their host.  With their multitude of experience and list of professional recommended suppliers; Rebecca and Samuel’s wedding planning was off to a great start!

“The venue itself is absolutely stunning (even in the rain) and we knew we could do as little or as much as we wanted and it would still look amazing. That combined with the amazing reputation the restaurant has for luxurious cuisine, and the odd glass of champagne thrown in, just confirmed to us that this was it.”

“Also with Le Talbooth, one of the main things that really drew us even more to the venue, was that Dreamwave was one of their recommended suppliers.  I love a good Instagram stalk and as soon as I had a proper browse, I knew that Dreamwave would be able to make our wedding even more special.  I knew they could take our wedding to the next level.  The whole team  just “got” what we were going for and could not have been more helpful in recommending ideas of their own.”

Dreamwave did the whole entrance walkway and full marquee ceiling in beautiful fairy lights (a must in my opinion if you get married at Le Talbooth – even during the day they looked so pretty).  They also supplied our S&R letter lights, the monogram dance floor sticker and  uplighters – they were simply incredible!!

“Many people recommended that I download Pinterest, as it would really help me find some ideas that were slightly different and out of the ordinary.  One thing that I saw that I loved, was a lot of American weddings had these graphics on the dance floor; that suddenly became a must have for the wedding.  I had never seen any pictures of weddings in Essex that had done this before.  This made me want it even more as I felt like it was totally unique and original to us.  When we approached Dreamwave with my idea they were so helpful and asked what design we were thinking of and straight away I knew that the guest book design with our monogram would look amazing.  On the day, nearly every guest said to me how amazing the dancefloor looked, and it was a real wow factor, in my opinion.”

The Dress

Rebecca had a clear idea of what her wedding dress was going to look like and traipsed the dress shops on a mission to find it.  After a few bad experiences she found “the one” at Amorae in Ongar.

“Like any girl I had spent hours leading up to the appointment looking at the website and picking out my favourites.  I tried one of them on first – lets just say it wasn’t the one! That’s when Maria at the shop said  “can I pick a dress for you”.  Now I need to set the scene here; my family and I were in a big room with a whole mirrored wall, and in one corner was a small space with a curtain that went around where you got into the dresses.  As Maria was zipping me into this dress, without even seeing myself in the mirror, I knew that this was it.  When I saw myself in the mirror, the tears started.  I loved the way it fitted my body; the traditional lace; subtle sparkle and beading – everything was perfect.  I really felt like the best version of myself.   I saw myself marrying Sam in this dress -my dress.  It was love at first sight”

Personal Touches

“We really wanted the wedding to look timeless and elegant and that really drove all of our choices when planning and selecting for the wedding.  Sam always wanted to wear black tie and I have always loved the idea of bridesmaids in black and my dress pure white.  Like any couple we wanted our wedding to be personal to us, whilst remaining traditional.  After we found the venue and church we found an amazing stationer, Jacqui at Print for LoveShe had this beautiful wedding set named the Hayworth.  That’s where the biggest and only theme you may say came from – S&R.”

“The thing on the day that I was most proud of was my order of service at the church.  Due to my performing background, a family friend suggested that I should do it like a program you would get at a West End show.  I created the whole thing myself, including a ‘Who’s who in our wedding party’, fun facts about both myself and Sam along with some embarrassing childhood photos, ‘from our first date to our wedding day’ .  I also included a few pages of our favourite photos telling the story of our four years together, and so much more – it had 20 pages!  It was my pride and joy.  However, my favourite thing of all, although time consuming, was when they all arrived from the printers  I wrote inside each service book an individual hand written message to each guest from us both that was totally unique for each person. They went down an absolute treat, everyone loved them!!”

The Day of the Wedding, Le Talbooth

The Ceremony

After a hearty family meal at Milsoms Restaurant in Dedham with the family, Rebecca managed to get a good nights sleep before her wedding day in preparation for her wedding day…Eeeek!  Initially the morning was very calm – with a bottle of champagne to help Rebecca, her mum and her three bridesmaids get ready, everyone felt relaxed.

“I still think even then that it hadn’t really sunk in that I was getting married… it was only when it was time to get in my dress, that that all changed. Suddenly the room got very hot and I remember actually saying to Chris (my lovely videographer) “Oh my god, im actually getting married, I think I am going to be sick”.  This is not because I had any regrets, I just suddenly felt this wave of overwhelming emotion, and in that moment i realized that this was it – I was getting married!  In the car to the church, my dad held my hand and told me how happy he was that I was marrying Sam, it was a moment I will never forget.”

“Arriving at the church, was a blur and before I knew it, the bridesmaids had left me and it was just me and my mum standing at the doors of the church, waiting for the Bridal Chorus to start. As the music started, we both shed a few tears and then it all becomes a real blur. Walking down the aisle, all I wanted to do was focus on Sams face, I don’t remember even seeing anyone else and I know it sounds cheesy but even in that big church surrounded by over one hundred people, it really felt like we were the only two people in the room.”

The Wedding Breakfast, Le Talbooth

Rebecca and Sam worked so hard to make their wedding day into their vision.  Every detail was thought about and it really showed in all aspects of the day.  I loved the personal touches included.  Using Dreamwave’s Complete Wedding Day DJ and Lighting Hire Services meant that we were providing background music during the Wedding Breakfast.  Their entrance song into the Marquee was West Ham’s “I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles” for her soon to be husband (I might add that Sam begged for something West Ham to be included throughout the wedding day – which Rebecca did politely decline!).  I loved that Rebecca’s dad took on the Master of Ceremonies role – for me, its these subtle points that make the day intimate.

“When we arrived to Le Talbooth in our vintage Rolls Royce,  Dan (our photographer) whisked us quickly into the marquee so we could see it before it was filled with our friends and family but also so he could get some great photos of us, whilst the marquee was empty.   I always had a strong picture in my mind of what I wanted the marquee to look like.  In preparation for the wedding, I am sure Sams neck must of ached for the continuous nodding and agreeing to all of my ideas.  I don’t think he was actually listening to me most of the time – typical man!  When we saw the marquee for the first time on the day, he could not of been more thrilled and loved every little detail, most of which I am surprised that he even picked up on.  Another personal touch that Sam also loved, was instead of table names, we marked each table number with photos of us at that particular age.  I loved seeing all of my hard work come together.  It was incredible and it actually looked better than I even imagined it would.”

The Flowers

“Our flowers were beautiful, I always said the bigger the better and Stacey from Designer Flowers Essex certainly did not disappoint. My bouquet was made of pure white lisianthus and hydrangea.  Inside the marquee Stacey added roses, peonies and several types of foliage complete with hanging candles.  We also had four separate arrangements to frame both entrances to the marquee.  Lanterns and candles lined the steps down to the lawn and not to mention our beautiful floral frame for the table plan, which was another must for the day.”

The Cake

“Our five tier wedding cake was from Cookie Delicious.  I designed it alongside Amy and it was a complete original design in pure white.  I loved the individual handmade flowers and damask pattern.   It tasted just as good as it looked, from chocolate to lemon to the traditional fruit cake, every tier was yummy!”

Stationary and Social Media

Print for Love created all of our table plan, menu cards and place cards continuing on from our invitation design – for the day we created two personalised snapchat geofilters for our guests to use and Jacqui also created special cards to go on each table to inform guests of how to use them and to use or hashtag #meetthemccarthys when posting any photos on social media.

This is where I have some advice to my fellow brides –

“Try to relax and enjoy the wedding breakfast.  I mean don’t get me wrong,  everything was stunning and that combined with the music, the room just had a real buzz and electricity.  However, I couldn’t help but find myself looking around during the starters, trying to make sure everyone was having a good time, when really I should have concentrated on myself and my new husband.  Sam read me like a book and seeing I was a tad overwhelmed, he whisked me outside to have a quiet moment.  Everyone had told me to enjoy every second; but sometimes I found myself trying to take every moment in that I wasn’t actually being in the moment – if that makes sense.  After our quick team chat outside, I was back in the game, with a glass of pink champagne in hand and we were going round from table to table mingling with our guests – a brilliant suggestion from my husband.”

The Evening Party for the Wedding, Le Talbooth

For the evening party, Rebecca and Sam were not afraid to play it modern with energised décor and contemporary pink up-lighting that punctuate perfectly with the warm golden traditional elements.

“The evening part of the wedding just flew by.  My bridesmaid Maddy and school friends surprised us both with the most amazing wedding present; it was a compilation video of lots of our friends singing along to different parts of ‘a town called malice’ – the reason why this song is a long story!  It was so thoughtful and it tied so many incredible, funny moments that I had shared with my friends together.  It is something I will never forget – plus I now have a copy at home.”

The First Dance

Then it was our first dance…  from day one we always had a song – ‘Just the way you are’ by Barry White.  This came around after a drunken dance at a party when we first got together. However we were also keen on  ‘Love’ by Nat King Cole, which I normally dance around the kitchen whilst cooking dinner.  For our first dance we really struggled with which one to go with and decided on the first.  Much to Sams surprise on the day, I actually had my friend mix the two together – I will never forget his face when the track changed and everyone started singing along. Our first dance was so special to us and it was by far my favourite moment of the day.  I then shared a dance with my dad.  My favourite film is ‘Father of the Bride’ and the theme tune is ‘Just the way you look tonight’.  Like any father and daughter, we have a very special relationship and it is something I will treasure forever.

The Party!

“And then the party started!! Before the big day we had to send Dreamwave over a list of the running of the day, plus a list of any “must plays” for the evening.  Me and Sam love music.  You will always find my friends and family on the dance floor till the end of the party.  We are normally the ones being asked to leave!  I just have to say that Darren (our DJ) certainly did not disappoint.  The next day we had a million messages and nearly everyone said “OMG how amazing was your DJ!?” Darren definitely added so much to our special day.  I mean, what’s a wedding without a good party!?  The dance floor was packed from start to finish, from the young to the old, everyone was having such a great time.  In true fashion nobody wanted it to be over, to the point where one of my best friends stood on our S&R floor sticker and said “NO, you cannot take this off until we have all left!” – sorry about that Dreamwave!!

Before we knew it, it was the next morning, the dress was in a heap on the floor, I had a slight headache, and it was all over.  I remember laying there thinking, how was that yesterday!?  I have never known a day to go by so fast and I don’t think I ever will again. It goes without saying that it really was the best day ever and we cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together as Mr and Mrs McCarthy!”

Advice to future Bride and Grooms

“The most important advice I can give is to surround yourself with people who you love and trust.  This is by far the biggest day of your life and everyone from your bridesmaids, to the groomsmen, to the florist, photographer, should get that and be there to support you.  If anything, all of these people are bringing something very special to your day, so try to bear that in mind when selecting who you go with.

Please believe me when I say this will the best day of your life, whether it rains or you have glorious sunshine, try to remember that actually none of it really matters, all that matters is you are marrying the love of your life and that this is your special day, no one else’s.”

One Person I’m Glad I Met – Hannah Bibby!

Introducing a lady who is a Fountain of knowledge and at the top of her game in the wedding and events industry.  She is based in Suffolk and is the Venue Director for the prosperous Hengrave Hall and thriving All Saints Hotel.  She is…… Hannah Bibby!

Hannah has really taken up the reins in her role and is revelling in her sweet smell of success.   It’s a pleasure to know such a lovely lady and accomplished individual.

Hannah Bibby Hengrave Hall Dreamwave Events DJ and Lighting Essex Suffolk

The Interview of Hannah Bibby

Right, I think I have made by feelings on Hannah Bibby crystal clear by now (hope I haven’t made her blush!).  Whilst I was visiting Hengrave Hall, I managed to nab Hannah on a fly by, busy co-ordinating an event.  We arranged a coffee for later at the newly refurbished All Saints Hotel.  This is how it went……

Where do we start…. I must say, All Saints Hotel looks absolutely stunning.  How’s it going here?

Thank you – the transformation that the owners have done really does make the hotel unrecognisable from what it was when they purchased it in October 2015.  Having launched the weddings side of the business only eight weeks ago we are thrilled with the response and our books are already filling for next year which is just fabulous.

Looking back, it was August 2009 we first met and got involved with you and the team at Hengrave Hall.  How are things at Hengrave going?

Time flies when we you are having fun……. it’s unbelievable to think back to Hengrave eight years ago when I joined with two weddings booked in to where it is now.  Hengrave is an extremely special place for many people and the team has grown hugely in the past years – with Catriona and Shona supporting me day to day.  We are proud to continually offer a very personal service and are there for our brides seven days a week when they need us.  The beauty of Hengrave is every wedding is different; different couples, different colours, different guests, different clients and different requirements and that’s what makes it fun and exciting for every wedding.  You don’t realise how well you to get to know your clients, but working with them (some for over two years in their build up to their day) means we are like friends by the time the wedding comes around.  We all still get very emotional when those doors open to the church or banqueting hall for the entrance of the bride.  It makes you very proud and we do think we have the best job to make peoples dreams come true.

For our readers who don’t know, we are your exclusive recommended supplier for DJ and Lighting Hire.  What do we have to offer that you like and your clients want?

You are indeed and have been for the past 8 years!!  We are so lucky to have the Dreamwave Team on board with us and we know our couples absolutely love working with you and the creative things you do!  We hear so much amazing feedback all the time.  I love the way you are ahead of the latest trends and the way lighting has evolved over the last 8 years is crazy.  Hengrave lends itself to such stunning lighting to really show off the amazing architectural features of the Grade 1 * listed mansion.  My firm favourite still has to be the stunning festoon lights hanging in the courtyard.  Of course all of your DJ’s must get a special mention as many a FABULOUS night is had on our dance floor thanks to Dave, Paul, Spikey, Martin, George and Darren!

The guys always say what a great night they have when DJing in your Banqueting Hall with you.  That room has something about it, doesn’t it?

It does, and I just love the way it gets transformed, particularly after people may have had a civil ceremony in the Banqueting Hall.  Once those doors close (whilst guests sip champagne on the West Terrace) the team come in and transform the room, with the black and white dance floor laid and gorgeous different lighting options. The extremely high vaulted ceiling and stunning stain glass bay window reminds you of the age of the house but with the modern twist of lighting and the dance floor it really does bring the whole room to life! We love it…!

As you know Dreamwave Events Lighting and Décor has completely rocketed and flying high especially at Hengrave. What areas do you like to see lit up?

It has indeed.  I am not surprised.  As I said before its because it compliments the Hall so well. As you know I LOVE the Courtyard, but the West Terrace must get a special mention particularly if our couples opt for fireworks, seeing the shepherds crooks line the path with festoons or fairy lights whilst the fireworks are going off in the distance really is an amazing sight (and great photo!). I do also love the personalised gobos you have done for some of our brides on the wall in the Banqueting Hall.  It just completely personalises it and I think its a stunning touch.

And how can we not talk about your wedding.  Eeeeek!  How are your plans going?  Can we give our readers a sneak preview of what we are providing?

Oh, it has come around so fast.  I am so excited and so lucky to be working with many of our recommended suppliers at Hengrave….. Paul and Dave have been absolutely amazing from our first meeting in late January when we had ideas flying around too now seeing it all come together. We have a Whatsapp group where we bat ideas around and they keep me posted on a couple of the surprises they are kindly sorting!! I am desperately trying to keep lots of things a secret and I don’t know who is reading this…. but there is a big focus on the courtyard for the early part of the evening after dinner, before the dancing.   I know the guys have got some brand new bits which are launching then which I am sworn to secrecy about!  As you can tell I am soooo excited!!

A big thank you to Hannah for taking the time out of her busy day to chat to me (though I’m sure she needed the caffeine!).  I hope you all enjoyed reading this.  Look out for the spotlight on Hannah’s wedding in September……

Venue Décor – Draping for weddings and parties

How can you use Draping for your wedding or party?

Have you found the mac to your cheese or the gravy for your mash and are you’re now planning your wedding? I am going to plant the seed of my wisdom in this blog post…. My wedding was in a standard village hall and without draping, the whole place would have been downright daggy!  A big shout out to mummy for making them as this was very time consuming and stressful for her – but if you plan draping allowance within your budget, you wont have to put the parent unit through the same turmoil!

Venue draping is so utterly versatile and in my opinion one of the most effective ways to make a venue completely transform.  By adding layer and texture to your venue you can completely revamp your space.  Whether you’re looking to support a rustic vintage theme, establish classic elegance or give your venue vibrant intensity; draping décor can achieve this.  Here are my thoughts on the best ways to use draping……….

Complete Coverage

If you don’t like the naked walls of the room, you can totally transform your venue by embellishing it with fabric making it more intimate with white or pastel draping. Alternatively use energetic colour for a modern, lounge room feel.

Wall Draping

Ceiling and Wall

If you have a venue that brings a lot of its own character, like a barn, by placing swoops of fabric from beams across the ceiling you are focusing attention on these unique features.

Cover un-appealing wall décor or simply change the ambience by covering the room borders.

Ceiling Draping Essex Suffolk East Anglia Wedding Party

Entrance Areas

Visitors always give pleasure – if not the arrival, the departure.  Your may as well give them a stylish entrance and exit by defining the areas.   These spaces give the option of classic arrangements but also allow opportunity to use a-typical styling.

Feature areas

A key Wedding Trend of 2017 is the use of feature areas.  Venue draping is the perfect way to characterize an area you wish to designate.

Draping feature area Essex Suffolk Wivenhoe House Wedding Party Fairy Lights

Backdrops

You can represent a space with a scenery of fabric behind a top table, Band/DJ Performance area (Our Dreamwave DJ’s love focus on the party area!) or enhance a simple ceremony area.  Backdrops are a both totally gorgeous and versatile.

Draping and Fairy Light Backdrop

How to enrich draping décor

So, you have decided on the fabulous draping, but you now need to complete the look. Fairy lights are an ideal candidate to add that bit of sparkle.  I personally love the use of intense Fairy Lighting on a target area placed behind a focal backdrop.  These radiate streams of light and so add to the party feel.

The flexibility of Up-Lighters make them optimal candidate for a party or wedding.  Situated behind the draping yielding a natural warm glow (a favourite for weddings) or glaring a vibrant hue of colour to party the night away.  These simple and affordable units are perfect to complete your sought after atmosphere.

LOVE the idea of having the warm glow during your wedding breakfast and then changing the setting by altering the colour and vibe for your evening party.  Signify day to night with the impact of a bright colour to boogie the night away!

Where Draping can be used

Dreamwave Events has installed draping in barns, conference rooms, marquees, private homes and even castles to create impressive focal points.  Check out our Pinterest page for further inspiration.

Don’t Worry About the Fixings

We use a pipe and drape system for our wall coverage and backdrops, so no fixings are required. Where fixings are required, we would get express permission from the venue and will adhere to their specifications to produce the draping look required.

What Dreamwave Events Do

Our team will keep those wedding stress levels under control.  They come armed with buckets of experience and professionalism.   Where required we will provide a design consultation to give a customized quotation to achieve the gorgeous look envisioned.

To set up, we arrive at the venue in good time prior to an event and guarantee our draping is in excellent condition upon installation.

Check out our guys in action at Wivenhoe House…..

I know that everyone wants their wedding venue to look and be perfect.  Just remember perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence!

So how much is this going to cost????

I’m not going to beat around the bush; Draping takes a lot of preparation time and labour but honestly, the effect is worth it.  I cannot give a set price as there are so many variables to consider.  Obviously the less draping used and ease of installation will be the cheapest option.  If you want to find out more……

Go on…Give us a call!

A Few Vintage/Retro Lampshades for Hire!

I am so excited to show you this film clip!  I think styling using lampshades is going to be a hugely popular for weddings in 2017.  This is actually not a new thing and are ideal for weddings; particularly wedding breakfasts/drinks receptions.  But I had to announce that we have just had a mega influx and now have A LOT available for hire now in Essex and Suffolk! (when I say a lot, I mean close to 200 in all shapes, styles and sizes).  When clustered and hung correctly together creates an inspiring effect.

I have absolutely fallen in love with these lampshades!  Forgo the traditional and use these beauties!  They can be used either indoors or outside and with Spring nearly upon us; imagine being out in the fresh open space or an airy marquee with these hanging overhead.  The refreshing, quirky styling will complete the bohemian and inspirational feel you are after.

With various choices available like hanging from festoon belts or individually from wire, build the design layout that you imagine.

Lampshades for Hire

Lampshades for Hire

Photos (above)taken during a photo-shoot at Kenton Hall.

DIY Lampshade Décor

Like this styling, but prefer the DIY approach?  Trawling the internet (ebay/gumtree/pre-loved), boot sales and charity for vintage lampshades it certainly an option.  But nowadays it can prove quite time consuming to find decent, good quality lampshades at a bargain.  If your prepared to put in the hours and have the patience, you will eventually find a few at a good price.

Check out Pinterest.  It is a great place to look for unique and do-able DIY lampshade arrangements for your wedding and help get those creative juices flowing!

Before proceeding down the DIY route, it is definitely worth balancing the cost of your time, labour, stress and actual purchase against the peace of mind of hiring the service from the professionals and not having to worry about installation, removal and dealing with glitches pre, post and during wedding.  I’m pretty certain you will have enough on your plate prior to your day!

Lampshades not your thing? Further Inspiration:

If Lampshades don’t appeal to your wedding vision and you want your day to be even more edgy and individual? Why not try hanging umbrellas upside down instead!

Spot the Difference – Realistic LED Candles Hire

Want Candles for your wedding?  Will your venue not allow real candles on site? We have the answer: Just hire realistic LED Candles!

I know candles can really make a difference to the ambience at a wedding venue.  But some venues will understandably not allow naked flames on site (the risk of fire is a huge deterrent!).   Battery powered realistic  LED Candles are the answer – and we have lots of them in all shapes and sizes!

Standard LED Candles are suitable for a range of creative scenery as described in my previous post and are super effective; but if you want the most authentic looking candles,  these LED candles may not quite make the grade you are after.

Don’t despair! There is another option…….

In my opinion, the Luminara range of LED Candles are indisputably the most realistic LED Candles available. They are certainly not a budget option at £17.50 per set of 3 at varying heights for hire.  But in this case, you absolutely get what you pay for.

Why would I pay the extra to hire Luminara Candles?

The Luminara range of realistic LED Candles are the premium alternative to the hire of our standard LED Candles. Clients would have to look closely to find that these candles are not the actual thing!  They are honestly incredible.  Made from real wax, they emit a genuine representative glare of an actual flame these realistic LED Candles are the idyllic replacement of the authentic candle.

Our Standard LED Candles

Don’t get me wrong, our standard synthetic wax LED Candles are realistic and are a great cost effective choice for hire (£5.50 for a set of 3 of varying heights).  They look fantastic in large quantities to create a high impact display and have a lovely flickering effect.  The difference is the actual artificial flame just does not move with these candles.

Don’t believe me? – I have proof! Just have a look at this clip and view the flickering frolics of both these wax lights in action! This will show you in more details what you can expect from each version:

Photo-shoot at Abbots Hall

Late last year saw Dreamwave Events provide the lighting and décor for a photo-shoot at picturesque Abbots Hall.  The photo-shoot was organised by Marie Clarke.  Marie co-ordinates the weddings and events at the venue.  The ever so talented Emily Fae took charge of capturing the stunning images produced.

Abbots Hall Photoshoot

Abbots Hall is a Grade II listed Queen Anne Style building situated on the 75-acre site of the Museum of Anglian Life.   The idea of the photo-shoot was to promote the different areas on site.  We was asked to use our expertise to enhance and define the Tithe Barn through lighting and draping among other areas……….

The Tithe Barn Lighting and Décor at Abbots Hall

In order to achieve the desired ambience, we used Festoon belts with hanging pendants and vintage filament lamps.  Their subtle effect along with the warm glow radiating from our up-lighters around the perimeter with white voile draping to bring a slash of femininity, brightened the barn to the perfect level of welcoming but not overpowering illumination.

Further refinement was offered through our feature area by installing an engaging backdrop of floating candles. Feature areas are very much are a primary focus of wedding trends for 2017 discussed in my previous blog. Click here to read more about the trending lighting and décor.

We collaborated in the Woodland Area to establish a whimsical setting using rustic Lanterns and kindling LED Candles.

Several suppliers participated in the photoshoot to accomplish the fantastic results illustrated:

Aisle and Carpet Runner

A Carpet Runner for all Occasions

The final piece to complete your wedding ceremony room would have to be an Aisle and Carpet Runner.  This often-overlooked piece of luxury décor can ultimately be the missing element that can transform any area into a more intimate affair and provide a focus in an open space whether this be in a church, civil ceremony hall or building or in a private house or marquee.

Ivory Aisle/Carpet Runner

With understated style and effortless quality, the Ivory Carpet Runner embodies warmth and contentment for a ceremony. Its neutral colour presents a comfortable centrepiece and embraces all the features within the room.  The carpet runner also concentrates the attention of guests on the bride floating down the aisle, the happy couple during their ceremony and departure of the doting newlyweds.

The ambience created and emphasised with our LED candles and Lanterns will subtly intensify your tender occasion.

Red Carpet

Concentrate your entrance and capture your guests focus with our glamorous Red Carpet walkway. A radiant Red Carpet will invite your arrivals in VIP style, guiding them into your event.

Wedding Trends 2017

2017 is looking to be an exciting year to get married. Wedding trends are aiming to be truly engaging.  We have oodles of design perspectives to share and give your wedding the ‘Dreamwave treatment’.

I have catalogued below what I feel are the coming wedding trends.  This focuses on our specialist industry of DJ and Lighting, Décor and venue styling…

Industrial Warehouse Weddings

Wedding Trends of 2017 are honing in on the rustic theme with an interesting twist; concentrating on an industrial notion.  It is bringing warehouse style weddings combining metallic colours and décor along with geometric designs. This along with a splash of floral or other decorative femininity makes the ideal mash up between macho and elegance.

Using a venue that already has more of an industrial look and feel is going to be popular this year.  The permanent architectural features such as its brickwork walls and supporting beams can be used to highlight this theme making a perfect canvas for décor and lighting.

With this said, by adding elements of industrial design to any venue or space is also possible.  A good example of this is our steel cages.  These can be placed around a ceremony or reception then filled with either festoon belts, hanging lamps or candles.

The Metallic Revolution

Whilst always being steadily popular, the eruption of metallic features and colours are fast becoming a primary concept of wedding themes of 2017.  When using the glamorous vintage tone of copper, silver and gold used along with the correct warm glow lighting; you can form a metallurgic sensation!

Geometric Compositions

Continuing with the industrial theme wedding trends there is a focus on geometric compositions. The placement of copper/gold Terrarium with their angular shapes and corners look awesome when set on table centres.  These urban looking and detailed vessels can add a mini botanical feature to your wedding theme.  They can either be filled with plants, foliage, LED candles or battery fairy lights. Our friends at Festive Lights have a large range of these Terrariums for sale.

Structures, Hanging Wonders, and Feature Areas

A clear forerunner and key focal point in this post is the wedding trend up-rise of feature design areas such as suspending structures and centrepiece displays.

Suspending structures take advantage of un-used space above heads to give an optic punch.  Especially relevant is our purpose built Rustic Chandeliers with hanging Edison bulbs.  This has been growing in popularity and is a notable attribute for a special occasion.  Our Chandeliers come in various sizing and styles to suit your desired look and theme.  Working with florists and merging our expertise to complete the design as a whole to tie in all the elements together is a must.

I chatted to Bev from Jades Flowers about this trend and how floristry is going to trend this year. She had this great information…

‘Hanging florals and foliage is a trend that looks set to continue throughout 2017.  There are numerous ways to add impact to a ceiling to create a jaw dropping, unique display that wows guests all day and looks simply spectacular in photographs.

Ceilings can be adorned with anything from floral chandeliers, tree branches dripping with hanging flowers and either light bulbs or meters and meters of garlands made from sweet smelling eucalyptus and rosemary.’

This overall industrial theme mixed with an array of mesmerizing floristry not only makes this approach extremely rewarding; but when this combination of manly and dainty design styles are used together, they result in fabulously balanced décor.

Concepts such as macramé (knotted criss-cross deigns) backdrops or even a vibrant coloured panel of ribbons make for an impressive canvas to direct the focus on dedicated food stations and interactive guest experiences.

The huge surge in wedding trends is to use reclaimed wood to adorn feature areas.  Amy and her team at Anthology Vintage Hire are experts at this.  They can construct quality themed areas to make your day unique.  Following this theme, we also have our new DJ Tables made from reclaimed wood to tie in with this rustic affair.
